90’S HEN PARTY WEEKENDER
For those hen’s out there who love their iconic fashion and music, the ’90s is a decade that is a brilliant theme for a retro, fun-filled hen party weekend.
Think girl power, questionable fashion choices, knee-high boots, and amazing pop music (um HELLO Steps, Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys!).
This is a theme where you can really go all out for the fancy dress, and often without having to splash loads of extra cash.
You could get in the 90s Spirit by dressing up as some iconic 90’s TV Characters (think Power Rangers, Teenage Ninja Turtles, and Saved by The Bell!), 90s Movie Icons (Clueless, Pulp Fiction or even Toy Story), or, most popular, some classic 90s popstars (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera or even queen of pop, Madonna!).
If you find yourself stuck for hen party theme ideas, you simply can’t go wrong with the one and only Union Jack Dress, an absolute staple of the 90s.
Combine your 90’s hen party fancy dress with a 90s Dance Class, or a Spice Girls Dance Class, and you’re in for a fun-filled afternoon, that’s a complete blast from the past!
You could add in some retro 90s hen party games, and head to a cheesy nightclub (think Popworld or Flares), for a funky themed night from one of the best decades known to man!
ROARING 20’S VINTAGE EXTRAVAGANZA
The ’20s was a time of glamour and fun, and this is a theme we’ve seen hens absolutely nail over the past few years at some of our Roaring 20’s Charleston Dance Classes.
You can go all out with a vintage hen party theme throughout the weekend; It’s the perfect excuse for everyone to dress up to the nines in chic flapper dresses and enjoy a few cocktails!
You could check out some vintage cocktail bars, or even see if you can find any speakeasy bars hidden around the city you’re in, for the ultimate hen party flapper experience.
A themed 20’s makeover would be the perfect activity to get the weekend started and is sure to get everyone in character and feeling fab, and once everyone’s glammed up a roaring 20’s dance class is a sure-fire way to get everyone into character, and ready to hit the town with some new found moves!
You could even check out what’s on in your city, and see if there are any immersive shows on like ‘Witness for The Prosecution’ in London’s West End or the ever popular Chicago.
THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS: ALICE IN WONDERLAND
This is one that might take a bit more planning, but if done right, this is a hen party theme is sure to wow everyone!
There’s a whole range of options for the fancy dress for this one, from a full Mad Hatter get up, to a Queen of Hearts, Cheshire Cat, or the persistently late White Rabbit. You could dress the bride to be up as Alice, and take her on a hen weekend to Wonderland!
The decorations options for a Through the Looking Glass are endless, so if you’re a crafty hen, this is a brilliant choice. You could even add some craft based activities to your weekend, to get the whole hen party involved in the decorating fun!
It’s the perfect excuse to enjoy a luxurious afternoon tea party as well, which is both a great idea as a starter to the day, or as a gentler recovery activity after a night out spent boogieing away (Basically, there really is no wrong time to treat yourselves to some cake and champagne on a hen do!).
*Top Tip – why not get everyone in the spirit to party by having a cocktail making competition, with little ‘drink me’ themed labels for all the crazy concoctions you’ll make!
HEALTHY HEN PARTY
There isn’t a huge amount of fancy dress to be had with this one (aside from some fabulous gym gear), but if you’re a bit of a gym bunny, or if you’re not keen on late nights out that leave your head banging the next morning, then maybe a rejuvenating ‘healthy hen weekend’ is for you!
Healthy hens aren’t just limited to hikes, yoga classes, and bridal boot camps however. You could head on over to the spa for a super relaxing afternoon or look into booking a cooking class!
These are just a couple of suggestions if you’re looking to create a weekend full of pampered luxury, that will leave the group feeling fresh and hangover free. DISNEY HEN WEEKEND
This theme is an absolutely brilliant choice for for a bride who loves her Disney films!
Disney has been seriously in demand this year, and it’s a perfect theme for incorporating some of the bride’s favourite songs, movies and characters throughout her hen weekend.
This is a theme that can be as wide ranging or specific as you want. With a whole range of Disney films to choose from you really are spoilt for choice
You could go as simple as handing out some Minnie mouse ears to all your hens, or you could go full out, and get everyone to pick their favourite Disney Character to dress up as!
Or why not go with the bride’s favourite Disney classic (everyone has one!) and get everyone to dress as a character from her fave movie?
You could keep the Disney theme going with a Disney movie night (perfect for a hungover Sunday, or a more chilled Friday Night, or a Disney Hen Party Dance Class!
We’ve seen that requests for a Disney themed dance class are most definitely on the rise, and it’s not hard to see why; I mean who isn’t left smiling when they think of the amazing characters and musical numbers on show!
BLACK AND WHITE CHIC
Perfect for if you’re after something a bit more understated, or if you’re wanting to go for a classy hen party theme! If this is the case, then a simple black and white theme is a great option.
You can still get creative with this hen weekend theme, and get some fabulous fashion going through the weekend.
You could have the bride in a stunning little white jumpsuit, and have everyone else in black, or throw tradition out the window, and switch over the colour schemes!
This is a classy theme that can still pack a punch when done right, and while simple to prepare compared to some of our other suggestions, it is a great way to bring the group together and you’re sure to grab some great photos for the ‘gram!
BAYWATCH
A must for any beach loving hen, and a theme guaranteed to give the group a laugh. Grab your lifeguard costume and head on down to the beach!
There are a whole host of activities that could go with this theme, surfing and paddle boarding are just a couple of ideas to get you going, but you can really let your imagination run away on this one!
It’s a great theme for a hen weekend by the beach, or a hen do abroad. Don those red bathing suits, grab your board and practice your slow running!
You could even hire your own male ‘lifeguard’ or butler in the buff to spice up that Baywatch hen night!
HALLOWEEN HEN PARTY
Now, obviously this theme lends itself to a certain time of year, but if you do happen to be planning a hen party for late October this is a great idea that is a brilliant choice for any hens who love all things scary!
Or, if your bride loves all things spooky, there’s no reason why you can’t throw a zombie hen party throughout any month of the year (think Zombie Bride….)
We’ve had tons of Thriller Hen Party Dance Classes in recently, and it’s been amazing to see the costumes and fancy dress that different groups have come in, from a bit of fake blood to a full zombie, we’ve seen groups really get stuck into the Spooky Halloween theme!
You could combine your spooky hen party fancy dress and Thriller Dance Class with some spooky cocktails, a spooky movie night, or even a nail-biting ghost tour to create a really scare-tastic hen weekend you won’t forget in a while!
BEYONCE OR FEYONCE HEN WEEKEND
I think it’s safe to say that Queen B has taken the nation by storm, and set the bar pretty high in terms of music, and really is there anyone who doesn’t love her?
For an absolutely iconic weekend, why not theme the hen weekend around the iconic Queen B herself, and give your bride to be the ultimate ‘Feyonce’ experience. What could be better for bride tribes out there to embrace their inner Sasha Fierce, and strut their stuff all weekend long!
One of our favourite classes is a ‘Beyonce’ Megamix class, and we’ve seen groups (both guys and gals) time and time again nail the iconic routine, with some brave bride tribes opting to go all out in leotards and heels!
